Crowley—Funeral services for Melinda Seaux Simon, 51, of Crowley will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Crowley. Reverend Gerard Morgan will officiate. Interment will follow in Abshire Cemetery, Kaplan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Crowley, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M., and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

Mrs. Simon passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 8:54 P.M. in a Lafayette hospital.

A lifelong resident of Crowley, Mrs. Simon was raised in the Christian faith, and had recently been attending St. Michael Catholic Church. She worked at Dollar General Store, and really enjoyed her work there. Mrs. Simon’s greatest joy in life was being with and caring for her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 7 years, Mark Simon of Crowley; daughter, Patricia Miller and husband, Brandon of Rayne; step-daughter, Mystie Simon and fiancé, Alex of Moss Bluff; father and step-mother, Vernice Villejoin and wife, Beatrice of Crowley; sister, Delania Ebner and husband, John, Jr. of Lafayette; brothers, Junior Benoit and wife, Tina of Thibodaux, Chad Villejoin and wife, Cassie of Crowley, and Jeffrey Comeaux and wife, Linda of Egan; step-sisters, Anjelle Mounier and husband, Jimmy of Crowley, Michelle Burney and husband, Perry of Lafayette, Shannon Schexneider of Mamou, and Tessie Schexneider of Jennings; grandchildren, Blake Miller, Blaze Miller, Kelsey Miller, Kendal Miller, Landyn Simon, and Cooper Simon; mother-in-law, Virginia Simon of Crowley; and paternal grandmother, Lucille Villejoin of Crowley. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding Mrs. Simon in death were her first husband, Lyman Seaux; mother, Dianna Comeaux; paternal grandfather, Edward Villejoin; maternal grandparents, Olenar and Tina Trahan; and father-in-law, Paul Simon.
