Rayne—A Mass of Christian Burial for Earlis Andrew Cormier, 77, of Rayne will be celebrated on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne. Father Samuel Fontana will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2, Rayne.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home.

Mr. Cormier passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 12:31 P.M. in a Lafayette hospital.

A lifelong resident of the Rayne area, Mr. Cormier was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Besides his active church life, Mr. Cormier lived out his faith as a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society.

A United States Navy veteran, Mr. Cormier worked in the oilfield for many years, and later owned and operated Cormier Dirt Work. He enjoyed gardening, caring for his fruit trees, and camping. Mr. Cormier’s greatest joy in life was being with and caring for his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Abshire Cormier of Rayne; sons, Michael Dale Cormier, Sr. and wife, Stacie of Rayne, and Richard Jude Cormier, Sr. and wife, Aimee of Branch; sisters, Alice Roche of Abbeville, and Shirley LeBlanc of Rayne; grandchildren, Ashley Cormier and fiancé, Jaret Dartez of Moss Bluff, Michael Dale Cormier, Jr. and wife, Desi of Rayne, Richard Jude Cormier, Jr. of Branch, and Ian Jude Cormier of Branch; and great-grandchildren, MiKaylah DesiRae Cormier of Rayne, and Michael Dale Cormier, III of Rayne. Mr. Cormier is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding Mr. Cormier in death were his parents, Early and Eva Broussard Cormier; son, Ricky Cormier; and brother, Norris Cormier.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Dale Cormier, Jr., Richard Jude Cormier, Jr., Jared Dartez, Daniel Saltzman, Eric Clostio, and John Eric Clostio. Named as honorary pallbearers are Donald Richard, Chris Cormier, Carey Cormier, and William Roche.
