Anna Mae Fontenot
Rayne—A Mass of Christian Burial for Anna Mae Venable Fontenot, 85, of Church Point will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne. Father Kendal Faulk will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2 Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 3:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. in the funeral home.
Ms. Fontenot passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 2:01 P.M. in a Church Point healthcare facility.
A native of Higginbotham, Ms. Fontenot was a longtime resident of the Rayne-Indian Bayou area. She was a 1947 graduate of Rayne High School.
Ms. Fontenot lived in Houston, TX for several years, where she owned and operated Fontenot’s Cajun Kitchen. She relocated to Church Point in the early 1990s.
A Catholic by faith, Ms. Fontenot was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, caring for others, and playing cards. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Fontenot Bouton and husband, Mike Alvey of Houston, TX; sons, Kenneth Fontenot and wife, Diane of Houston, TX, Michael Fontenot and wife, Becky of Alvin, TX, Larry Fontenot and wife, Beverly of Youngsville, and Steven Fontenot and wife, Maricel of Sugarland, TX; sisters, Evie Harmon of Church Point, Elvie Guilbeaux of Church Point, Emma Childers of Jasper, TX, Saybel Montet of Gretna, and Sherry Jones of Church Point; grandchildren, Shane Davis and wife, Shelley of Houston, TX, Dennis Hanks of Eagle River, AK, Shawn Lynn Fontenot of Sunset, Robbie Fontenot of Rayne, Shae Lynn Fontenot Morris and husband, Robert of Alvin, TX, Sheena Fontenot of Alvin, TX, Derek Bouton of Houston, Leah Nicole Fontenot of Sugarland, TX, and Lance Kyle Fontenot of Sugarland, TX; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Ms. Fontenot in death were her parents, Joseph S. Venable, Sr. and Louise Duplechin Venable; sister, Laura Guidry; brothers, Duplex Venable and Joseph Venable, Jr.; and great-grandchild, Anakin Fontenot Morris.
Serving as pallbearers are Kenneth Fontenot, Steven Fontenot, Larry Fontenot, Dennis Hanks, Derek Bouton, and Robbie Fontenot.
