Obituary for
Lena Lyons (O'Pry)
Church Point—A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lena Lyons, 90, will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson DeBlanc will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery #2 Mausoleum, Church Point.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 3:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Church Point, with a rosary being recited at 7:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home.
Mrs. Lyons passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 2:45 P.M. in her Church Point residence surrounded by her family.
She was a native and long time resident of Church Point. She was a cook at Church Point High School for many years and retired in June 1989. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Lena’s greatest joys in life were God and family. She attended Mass daily, and could be found at Church at 12 Noon reciting the Rosary for all to participate.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda and husband, Charles Guidry, Janelle and husband, Ron Steiber; one son, Tony “T-Bone” Lyons and wife, Melinda; grandchildren, Shane and wife, Missy Guidry, Chad Guidry, Matthew Guidry and friend Rebecca, Michael Steiber and companion, Robert, Jaime Steiber, and Brian Steiber and companion, Paul, two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Minchew and Christopher Guidry; one great-great grandson, Aidan Minchew; two step grandchildren, Hannah and husband, Paul LeBlanc and Trey Melancon; two step-great-grandchildren, Lori, and husband, Jeremy Venable and Vincent and wife, Cheryl Nagel; step great-grandchild, Madison, Seth, Ethan and Evan LeBlanc; and four step great-great grandchildren, Ethan, Camdan Venable, Jansen, Bentley, and Braxton Nagel.
Mrs. Lyons is preceded in death by her husband, Cleve Lyons; parents, Bennette and Laura LeBleu O’Pry;; brothers, Sidney O’Pry, Nolton O’Pry, Paul “U.L. “O’Pry, and sisters, Ada Doucet and Lilly O’Pry.
Pallbearers for the services were Shane, Matthew Guidry, Ronnie and Dean Carrier, Mark Latiolais, Christopher Guidry. Honorary Pallbearer for the service was Chad Guidry.
