Melvin Francis smith
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for Melvin F. Smith, 70, who passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:15 a.m. at Our Lady of the Oaks in Lafayette.
Fr. Samuel Fontana, Associate Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Church New Cemetery in Rayne.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6 on Wednesday evening in the Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. Visitation will resume on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. until time of the services all in the Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mae Smith of Scott; one daughter, Denise Smith of Scott and one son, Sidney Smith of Mire; one sister, Shirley Alleman of Mire; one brother, Michael Smith of Mire; five grandchildren, Tylor Guilbeau, Jace Smith, Kyla Smith, Brittany LeBlanc and Iris Guidry; one great-grandson, Braxton Guilbeau.
Mr. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Early and Mabel Smith.
