Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Floyd “PaPa” Chatagnier, Sr., 89, who passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, at 8:37 a.m. at his home in New Iberia surrounded by his family.
Fr. Kendal Faulk, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in the Gueydan Cemetery in Gueydan.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 for 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley.
Mr Chatagnier was a native of Gueydan, La. and a resident of New Iberia. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mercedes P. Chatagnier of New Iberia; four daughters, Sheila and husband, Bobby Sweeting of Liningston, Selina Mitchell of Mt. Pleasant, TX., Floydean Haney of Walker and Rachel Mitchell of Chatham, La.; one son Floyd and wife, Michelle Chatagnier, Jr., of Baton Rouge, La; two sisters, Jean Beard and Ruby Hebert of Gueydan, La.; fifteen grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren and the children of his current wife, Bobby and Carl Richard, Cynthia Owens and Susan Duplechin.
Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by two daughters, Angelina and Rose Chatagnier; one grand-daughter, Mona; one great-grandson Joshua; the mother of his children, Annabelle; his current wife’s daughter, Bridget Gros; three brothers, Roy , Harland and Harry and five sisters, Gladys, Mable, Domatile, Dora and Teoza.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a great love for deer hunting; he hunted until he absolutely couldn’t anymore. He spent most of his time in a garden and cutting grass, he adored the outdoors. We extend special thanks to his sitter Ms. Linda and all the staff with Hospice that assisted.
