Ruby Batiste
Church Point- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ruby Batiste, 74, at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 114 Bienvenu Street, Church Point, LA 70525 with the Very Rev. Msgr. Jeff DeBlanc as Celebrant. The family is requesting that visitation be held at Duhon Funeral Home, LLC Chapel beginning at 8:00AM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 to continue until just prior to the time of service with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:00AM . Interment will follow the church service and will be in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart “New” Cemetery, 2153 Lawtell Hwy, Church Point, LA . Mrs. Smith passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, LA.
She is survived by her sons, Armond Neil Batiste and his wife Diane , Arnold "Tommy" Batiste and his wife, Zetra , Robert "Robbie" Batiste and his wife, Joyce ; grandchildren, Shawandalyn Jacobs, Sharlee Jacobs, Jade Williams, Sadonya Rhea Batiste, Sariah Monae Batiste, Ysedria Marissa Batiste, Anissa Batiste and Jalen Batiste; great grandchildren, K’leil Jacobs, Rhiley Melancon, Madison Melancon as well as a sister, Ivy Dean Butler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Smith; her parents, Jacque Batiste and Hermina Charlot Batiste; sisters, Mary Jane Harrison, Irene Minnix, Vera Boutte, Rosalie Batiste and one brother, Albert Ray Batiste. GIftbearers for the Mass will be Ysedria Batiste and Sariah Batiste. Pallbearers will be Kevin Minnix, Brad Bellard, Edward Minnix, Thomas Charlot, Marcus Bellard, Randy Batiste, Mark Savoy and Greg Bellard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Neil Bellard, Tommy Batiste, Robert Batiste, Kerry Joseph, Brian Gallow, Jr, Terry Guidry and Gabriel Bellard.
