A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau, La. for Lorilla “Lola” Richard Geerts, 78, who passed away at Jennings American Legion Hospital in Jennings on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 1:34 P.M.
Fr. Charles McMillin, Pastor of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in Istre Cemetery in Mermentau Cove, La.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Hall in Mermentau, La. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, at 6 o’clock in the evening at the Church Hall in Mermentau. Visitation will resume on Monday at 8:00 A.M. until time of services all in the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Hall in Mermentau, La.
Survivors include five sons, Louis and wife, Holly Geerts of Midland, TX., Paul and wife, Cindy Geerts of Evangeline, La., Michael and wife, René Geerts of Thibodaux, La., Tomas and wife, Lacie Geerts of Huntsville, TX., (Iraq), Kirk Geerts and fiancé Valarie Sawaya of Eunice, La.; two daughters, Judit Geerts of Morse, La. and Rachel and husband, Jon LaFleur of Lake Charles, La.; thirty grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Ms. Lorilla was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Peter Geerts; her parents, Felix and Christine Richard; two brothers, Dalton Richard and James Richard.
In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the 3rd Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
