Lennis Joseph Leger
Lafayette- Funeral Services will be held for Lennis J. Leger, 89, at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Duhon Funeral Home-Rayne Chapel with Deacon Steve Simon officiating. The family has requested that visitation begin at 9:00 AM on Friday until just prior to the time of service and a Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the chapel service and will be in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in Duson, LA. Mr. Leger passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at his residence in Lafayette, LA.
Lennis was born in the outskirts of Rayne, LA; a resident of Duson, LA for 46 years before moving to Lafayette, LA following his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, was well known as “Mr. Fixer-upper” and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and also enjoyed being helpful to people when needed.
Mr. Leger is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Eunice Simon Leger of Lafayette, LA; children, Larry Leger and his wife, Betty of Scott, LA and Barbara Broussard and her husband, Lloyd of Lafayette, LA; grandchildren, Shire Broussard, Joey Broussard and Bryan Broussard all of Lafayette, LA; great-grandchildren, Drew Guidry and Ava Mercke both of Lafayette, LA; sisters, Rose Richard and Louvie Monte both of Lafayette, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Celiva Leger.
Pallbearers will be Larry Leger, Lloyd Broussard, Joey Broussard, Bryan Broussard, Laurie Leon and Larry Bourque.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Leger’s family is requesting that donations be made to Heart of Hospice, 201 West Vermilion Street, Ste. 100, Lafayette, LA 70501.
