Obituary for Shirley Pitre (Richard)

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 1:00 PM at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Lawtell for Shirley R. Pitre, 68 who passed away at her home in Lawtell surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 21, 2016.
Fr. Austin Leger will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart New Mausoleum in Church Point.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, from 10:00 AM until 10:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point. A Rosary will be recited on Saturday at 7:00 o’clock in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Sunday at 8:00 A.M. until just prior to the time of service.
Shirley was a native and long time resident of Lawtell, La. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren as well as cooking on Sundays. Loved reading, working with flowers, and watching her grandchildren play ball games, always cheering them on. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Terry Pitre of Lawtell; one daughter, Tina P. and husband, Brannon Prudhomme of Lawtell; three sons, Craig and wife, Pam Pitre of Mamou, Johnathan and wife, Denise Pitre of New Iberia and Shane and wife, Stephanie Pitre of Opelousas; three sisters, Janice Olivier of Church Point, Anna Joyce Phillips of Opelousas and Jo Ann LaBas of Lawtell; one brother, Gervis Richard of Port Barre; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Natalie, Mallory, Conner, Zack, Blake and Caroline; six step grandchildren, Madeline, Madison, Charlie, Nik, Aaron and Matthew.
Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by one grandson, Landon John Pitre; her parents, Arthur and Josephine F. Richard; one sister, Eura Matte and one brother, Apton Richard.
Pallbearers will be Craig Pitre, Johnathan Pitre, Shane Pitre, Chris Pitre, Brannon Prudhomme and Tony Richard. Honorary pallbearers will be Conner Pitre and Zack Prudhomme.
