Ramona Mary  Charlot
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point for Ramona Charlot, 83, who passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. at Acadia St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point.
Fr. Emmanuel Awe, Pastor of Our Mother of Mercy Church in Church Point will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in the Our Mother of Mercy New Church Cemetery in Church Point.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 8:00 A.M. until time of services all in the Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point.
Survivors include one daughter, Elaine and husband, Gerard Henry of Opelousas; three sons, Donald and wife, Elizabeth Charlot of Lake Alsinore, California, Carl and wife, Jacinta Charlot of Corona, CA. and Bryan Charlot of Lafayette; four sisters, Leola Charlot of Church Point, Melanie Citizen of Church Point, Theresa Bellard of Church Point and Nelda Joseph of Lafayette; two brothers, Walter Rogers of Baton Rouge and Edward Rogers of Church Point; nine grandchildren, Shalonda, Danna Ramona, Wesley, Dominic, Max, Destiny, Nina, Ian and Jacques; three great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Derek Cyssero and Adrian, Jr.
In her former years, Ms. Mona, as she was known, was affectionately dubbed “the cold cup lady” by the young kids in the neighborhood. More recently, before she became ill, she was known around town, and beyond, for baking the best homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, and sweet dough pies around.
She was an amazing mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who was truly loved and will be missed by many.
Ms. Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Charlot; one daughter, Patty Durr; her parents, Emile and Lorancer J. Rogers; two sisters, Genora Meche and Geneva Duplechain; one brother, Joseph Rogers.
