Phoebe Marie Cormier (Spell)
Crowley—Funeral services for Phoebe Marie Spell Cormier, 80, of Crowley will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Crowley. Deacon Rodless Leleux will officiate. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Crowley.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Crowley, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.
Mrs. Cormier passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 8:00 A.M. in a local care facility.
A native of Lowry, Mrs. Cormier was a longtime resident of Crowley. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, and she also attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Mrs. Cormier worked for many years in the cafeteria at American Legion Hospital. She was a great cook, and was well-known for her delicious biscuits. She enjoyed flower gardening, and her greatest joy in life was being with and caring for her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Hanks and husband, Steve of Sunset, Shirley Daigle and husband, Dennis of Lacassine, and Marjorie Trahan of Lake Charles; sister, Roberta Turgeon of Fairfield, CA; brothers, Wayne Right Spell of Lafayette, and Douglas McArthur Spell and wife, Earline of Crowley; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mrs. Cormier in death were her husband of 56 years, Colise Cormier; parents, Ira Earl Spell and Rose Marie Granger Spell; son, Phillip Cormier; and brothers, Renee Spell and Oran Spell.
