Our talks

Back in 1992, I started dating Kristal, it was my Senior year in high school, and I played football. After the games on Friday night, I would go over and visit. Mr. Donnie would soon go to bed, Kristal or "Flossy" as Mrs. Brenda would call her, usually fell asleep on the couch, so Mrs. Brenda and I would sit up for hours talking about whatever; from food, football, Jesus, college, to what was going to break down next on my truck. At times, I would look at Kristal sleeping, say about how pretty she was, although maybe as Mrs. Brenda would tell it 'snoring and drooling'. She'd look at me and say "If you think she does like that, you are either blind and crazy or you really do, boy!" Then she'd laugh that big ole laugh. She made me food when I was over and to take to college, knitted a quilt from nothing big enough to fit me, and I know said countless prayers, but I will always cherish the way she sat and talked with me most.
