The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Felton Bellard can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

The Hardest Working Man I Ever Met

Felton “James” Bellard

A man who would show me that the quality, and integrity of a man was not decided by the color of his skin

A man who taught me about dedication.  He worked for my father on his farm for nearly 15 years and I can not recall a time when he was late nor didn’t come to work.  He also stayed late many many times.

A man who never complained nor had any harsh word about any person

A man who instilled in me the ideals, morals, and values that I believe in even to this day

A man who loved his music , KTIZ FM 96.9 out of Alexandria and KJCB AM 770 out of Lafayette were his favorites.  Any time I hear a Billy Ocean song, or “I Feel For You” by Chaka Kahn I always think of him.

A man who was the best tractor driver I ever knew.  He taught me and I was told by a few farmers that I was the best tractor driver they ever had.  Thanks James!!!

A man who loved his “soul food”.  He took me to the Star Lite Inn for lunch a few times and he could cook with the best of em.

A man who was a dedicated father to James Jr and Crystal Gayle, his two children.

A man who was a father to me when my Dad and I didn’t see eye to eye.

A  man I wanted to be so bad that I painted myself black when I was 6 years old.

A man who took care of my brothers and I, if we were his own

A man who should have gotten more credit for the success of my Dad’s farm.

A man that was at my wedding, and one of, if not the best friend I ever had.

A man that my wife and children had the privilege to meet and will be better because of that.

A man I will never forget nor ever stop loving.

Good bye my brother and hero.
